Econo Foods

Econo Foods is where I shop in Marquette. And there are quite a few reasons why. Let me bullet point it for you:
  • The More Card - if you don't have one, GET ONE! Every day, Econo will put new deals up that you can only get if you scan your More Card at the register. On an average, I can save at least $5,00 a shopping trip, just by using my More Card, and finding the deals specific to the More Card. That's $10 a month, and $120.00 a year!
  • Our Family Labels for Learning - Just like the Campbells Labels for Education, the "generic" brand that Econo carries collects the labels and donates $25.00 for every 500 label bundle you turn in. Print off the registration card online, and get started with your group, school, or church started with an extra $25 bonus! (If you do start this with Our Family, leave me a message so I can share it with the readers and maybe help you earn money too!)
  • Our Family Coupons - I clip or print coupons daily. Our Family has their own link to their own coupons! Just make sure you check back at least once a week, and also make sure you check before you go grocery shopping. There is nothing worse then coming home after spending money on groceries to find coupons to help you save money on those very groceries!
  • Holiday Gas coupons - on the bottom of your grocery receipt, there is a bar code and coupon for savings on gas at a participation Holiday Gas Station. Depending on how much you spend, it will reflect how much your coupon is for. You can use 2, and it can be up for 20 cents a gallon.

For example: I just filled up (and by fill-up I mean the light had been on for a bit longer than it should have!), at 17 gallons, and saved $1.08, only saving 9 cents a gallon. If I filled up twice a month, that would be $2.16 a month, which equals $25.92 a year! If you have 2 cars, that is $51.84 a year! And that is only saving 9 cents a gallon! If I had saved 20 cents a gallon, I would've saved $3.40 total that trip, $6.80 a month, and $81.60 a year! 2 cars = $163.20! That's some serious savings. So while it might seems like a hassle.....$81.60 is NOT a hassle for me. :)

  • Reusable bags - Econo will give you 5 cents off for every reusable bag that you bring in, even if they are not Econo bags! Again, if you use 3 bags, twice a month, you will save $3.60 a year. Again, doesn't seem like tons, but that is $3.60 that you don't have to spend and can save instead.

And that my friends, is why I'm a fan of Econo. Now, I know that other grocery stores have deals and such too. But, I've found that Econo has more options to save money, and that is big with me.

(PS...I'm not getting anything from Econo for this post. I'm just telling you why I shop there!)

2/17 Tip of the Day

Today's tip is for you Econo Foods shoppers in particular, but is something that you should look for anytime you go grocery shopping!

In our house, we eat a lot of bananas, and I pretty much pick them up everytime I'm at the grocery store. So a tip to saving a few bucks is to buy what Econo calls, "baking bananas". Basically, they are the neglected bananas and Econo packages them in a bag, and sells them for $0.49 a pound. The bananas are usually single ones that I have come off somehow, or maybe are looking a bit ugly on the outside. Sometimes they are still green even! So whether you use them for baking, or for eating, they are still good bananas, and you save some change while doing it!

2/14 Tip of the Day

When feeding a 2 month old baby that is known to spit up, always, always, ALWAYS have a recieving blanket, burp cloth or something of the like nearby. Because when you don't, that is when the most spit up will occur. It is also when it will be projected the furthest. *sigh*

But, as a real tip, recieving blankets are SOOOOOO much better than burp cloths. At least for me. They are bigger, so there are more dry spots to use.

Off to start the laundry....

Swagbucks

Do you use the internet? Do you want to earn money while you do it? Then sign up for Swagbucks!

What is Swagbucks?

Swagbucks is a search engine that awards you in the form of Swagbucks, which are points that can be traded in for prizes. When you search from their site, you get your results back from Google and Ask.com, so your results are real results.

You can chose from a variety of prizes including lots of gift cards. A $5 Amazon.com gift card is only worth 45 Swagbucks, which took me 2 weeks to earn. There are lots of other prizes too, as well as sweepstakes you can enter.

You get 3 Swagbucks for joining and can win anywhere from 2 – 5 a day. What I have done is make the Swagbucks search site my homepage, and just type in where I want to go, instead of going through my Favorites. I usually win once in the morning, and in the evening.

They also have Swagcodes out at least 5 times a week that can be worth 1 – 3 Swagbucks, and Friday's are Mega Swagbucks Day. I will do my best to notify you of these Swagcodes, so that you can win them too! Also, on the side of my blog is the Swagbucks widget, that will alert you to any Swagcodes that are out as well.

They also have specific Search & Win sites you can search through, to earn specific prizes from bands, teams and other places. (Lady Antebellum is my favorite!)

You can go here to join. It's really fast, easy, and earns you money! I plan on using all my gift cards to pay for Christmas gifts next Christmas!

Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck!

2/12 Tip of the Day

Today's tip:

Baby swings are amazing. If you don't have one, or weren't planning on getting one, change your mind and go out there and get one. My daughter reccommends the Fisher Price Ocean Wonders swing. It has lights, and a mobile, and 3 different swing positions, and music/water sounds. And, it puts her to sleep. Or at least keeps her occupied long enough to I can use the bathroom. :)

And that my friends, is today's Tip of the Day.

Hello and welcome!

Hello and welcome to the Yooper Mommy blog!

My main purpose for starting this blog is to pass along all the info I learn about to other people out there, especially to moms, and especially to Yoopers!

There are lots of blogs out there that help people find freebies, deals and coupons. However, the UP is a totally different region, and a lot of times their tips couldn't help me. So, I decided to start my own to share what I can to help save others time and money.

Plus, I'm a new mom, and there are all sorts of tips that I feel could be useful to others.

Basically, I like helping others, so here I am to make your day a little more entertaining, and your wallets a little more full! I welcome all your comments and concerns, and am open to any suggestions you might have too.

Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy!
